MHC Newsletter – October 2011

President’s Message

Hello everyone,
Our season has come to a close with a little bit of a rough beginning, the weather this spring was less than nice. We had a change in the Executive part way through the season, but we all survived! Thank you to all who helped out at the club at shows work-bees etc. We had a work-bee last Sunday and managed to re-fence the side of the arena along the bleachers! It poured rain but spirits and determination were high and with the help of a great group of volunteers we got the job done!

Helen Howell, 2011 MHC President

AGM Tomorrow Night @ 7:30pm

Tomorrow night’s the night we all vote for our executive! This year many are stepping down so it’s time for us to step up. We are definitely going to need some additional volunteers this year. The following Executive positions are available: President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer. We also need some volunteers for some of our committees including Show, Membership & Sponsorship ( I know I’m missing something…but for the life of me can’t remember). Now remember that you don’t need to be horsey to help… and trust me there is job for everyone…The AGM tomorrow is at the Visitor’s Centre on Lougheed Highway. The meeting room is upstairs. Afterwards we have the rules meeting (ughhh… nobody likes rules do they?)

Year End Banquet Nov 17th

That’s right and we are giving away year end prizes. And trust me… they are good (too bad I didn’t show this year). On top of year ends, we will have door prizes, silent auction (bring something to donate) and of course GREAT FOOD & GREAT PEOPLE. The banquet this year is at Dakota Joe’s on First. And Helen says the food is fabulous.. If you could RSVP to Helen Howell @ martyeyes@hotmail.com and just let her know you are coming and with how many friends. This way the restaurant has an idea of how much room we need.

And lastly, a big thank you to our sponsors Fraser Valley Building Supplies & Abby Tack for the awesome deals on prizes so we were able to get bigger, better prizes :)

Last week’s work bee

Was a huge success despite the rain. The great crew of people (I don’t want to name names in case I forget someone) that came out was able to get the place cleaned up and the whole one side of fence up. Now we just need some (hint, hint fence fundraiser..) plaques to put on them. Pictures of the new fence will be posted on the website soon, which has also been updated :)

Facebook

Now don’t forget to join the Mission Horse Club Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MissionHorseClub/) Ronalee & Tanya do a great job of posting all of the hot-off-the –press information there. Currently we have 123 members and we would like to see grow!

Sponsorship

This year we’ve got it a bit more together on the Sponsorship end. If you’ve got a business it’s a great way to get exposure. I know I’ll be in line for a sponsorship. Forms can be found on the website (http://missionhorseclub.com/sponsorship/sponsorship-program/). You can also read all about the sponsorship program we’ve got going this year there as well. The cool thing about sponsorship at MHC is that you can have a sign on the ring and it’s viewable by people year round! Leslie (hockeynhorses@live.com) is in charge of sponsorships and you can email her to let her know you’d be interested. She would be delighted to hear from you!

Thank you to our Sponsors!

It’s been a long year and we’ve had a blast this season but we couldn’t do it without the constant support of our community sponsors.. So a big THANK YOU to all. This year’s sponsors included: Abby Saddle Shop, Iron Lotus Yoga, Bosley’s Pet Food & Supplies, John son Meier Insurance, Soapbox Studios, Pete’s Pizza Place, Rosegate Dairy Farms, Glenda’s Christmas Cottage, Action Roofing, Betty McMahon, Prospera Credit Union, Valley Pulp, Buker Farms, Cummings Trailer Sales, Snug Rugz & Accurate Pressure Washing (boy, that’s a mouthful!) Now if I’ve forgotten anyone I’m new :)
